The truce, which lasted for 30 hours from 18:00 Moscow time on Saturday to 00:00 on Monday, was announced during a meeting with Russian Chief of the General Staff, Army General Valery Gerasimov.
The Russian Defense Ministry said that during this period, all units involved in the special military operation strictly adhered to the ceasefire and maintained their previously held positions.
Multiple attacks by Ukrainian forces during Monday night near Sukha Balka and Bohatyr in Donetsk region were repelled by Russian troops. These attacks resulted in civilian casualties and damage to infrastructure.
On Monday, Peskov also confirmed that Russia remains open to finding a diplomatic solution to the Ukrainian conflict, but refrained from giving a particular timeframe.
In a post on Truth Social on Sunday, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed hope that Russia and Ukraine would make a deal this week. Peskov stressed that efforts and ongoing work aimed at finding a peaceful solution to the conflict must be conducted privately, cautioning against information leaks.
“President Putin and the Russian side remain open to finding a peaceful solution, and are continuing to work with the American side,” he said, adding that Moscow hopes the ongoing efforts will bring results.
